Are black gay couples the true victims of inequality?

A recent US report provided the first-ever detailed study of black same-sex households,

including evidence they suffer disproportionately from the lack of marriage protections

available to opposite-sex couples.

The country's National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Policy Institute

and the National Black Justice Coalition collaborated on the report,

which is based on data from the 2000 Census.

There are 600,000 same-sex couples in the United States,

about 14 % or 85,000, included at least one black person.

Black gay and lesbian couples were more likely to raise children.

They also earned less and were more likely than white gay couples to struggle economically.

They are more likely to gain from the legal protections of marriage.

The report also found that black same-sex couples earned about $20,000 less per year than white same-sex couples.

Black gay couples were also less likely to own the home they lived in.

Because most of the state anti-gay marriage amendments currently under consideration in the United States,

the study found that such initiatives are a bigger threat to black same-sex couples and their children.

Australian Synod rejects gay blessings:

The Australian branch of the Anglican Church has voted in favour of barring gay blessings for lesbian and gay couples.

This follows a worldwide debate on the issue of sexual diversity within the Church.

The church in Canada began offering blessings for same-sex couples.

 

"The problem is that every time powerful people make a negative statement about gays and lesbians, [the] violence increases," Canberra and Goulburn Rector Jill Varcoe told the Australian Advertiser.

As a civilization we like to believe that we are more "aware" more "understanding of difference's" but the truth

is that when once it was "blacks" now its "gays" or in fact just anyone who is "different".

It time we truely evolved, gay black men and gay black women, do have relationships and children and its time they had the same rights and white same sex or even "normal" couples and familys have.
